This charming property, set on a small hill at the edge of a quaint village, offers clear and expansive views of the naturally beautiful surroundings. The village, nestled between olive farms and vineyards, lies in the foothills of Monsaraz, a medieval castle in the Alentejo region of Portugal, near the Spanish border. The area is close to Alqueva Lake and about 25 minutes from the nearest city, Evora. Increasingly popular with European tourists, this region remains an undiscovered gem. Alqueva, the largest artificial lake in Europe, provides opportunities for scenic walks, boat rides, fishing, and various water activities. The plot spans 2.88 hectares (28,800 square meters or 6.92 acres) and is primarily covered with ancient olive trees, as well as orange and almond trees. About halfway up the hill, there is a well-built, well-insulated Scandinavian wooden house of 56 square meters, an insulated aluminium tool house with high ceilings, an inlaid pool, and a wooden reception house at the bottom of the hill. The property has an electricity connection and permission for a water connection, complemented by a working water well and borehole currently in use. Additionally, there is planning permission for a campsite and motorhome parking, offering potential for a holiday business. While the current owners initially planned to pursue this, they have found it too much to manage. Over the past six years, they have established basic utilities and secured planning permission for their dream retirement home on the hill.
